I wrote a blog post on August 19, 2023: Why is no one responding?
It starts:
In a recent FB post, a studio owner asks her customers "I'm giving you what you want, so why is no one responding?".
There was a huge response, but it wasn't directed at the classes, events and camps she's offering. Her people replied (85 times over): we don't see your posts!
This is the studio owner's post and some of her customer's replies:
Well, that's not exactly what any studio owner wants to hear.
But it's not surprising.
I know I'm not the only one: I am so tired of doom scrolling. I am so tired of a ratio of 1:20 (or worse) of your friends' posts/pages you follow (like your studio!) to ads and paid posts. There's misinformation, heated arguments, redundant posts, etc. etc. Social media platforms are not a happy place to be right now.
The irony? You should still be there. Why? because your studio is a relevant, important part of your community. And it IS a social (and happy!) place. Be consistently present on the platform where your customers spend the most time.
When posting on Facebook and Instagram:
Schedule a post for every day: a mix of fun, engaging content, highlights of your studio and inspiring designs
Videos: they entertain (and stop the viewer for a bit), but do they motivate followers to visit your studio, or is it just entertainment for the moment and then they move onto the next video? Use videos to entertain AND sell
Post your events on FB: encourage your followers to tag friends to go with them
Following those events and classes: post your photos! Your customers love to see others (and themselves!) "in action"
Keep growing your followers: display a QR code at your POS for customers to easily link to your pages. Have links to your social pages on your website and emails.
Social media is a commitment, not a campaign.

There is good news on the social media front. It's not a total waste of time and energy! Consistent posting WILL gain traction with your audience.
Teresa Spencer, owner of Soul Fire Art Studio, and TCR client, replied to another studio's FB comment about sales last December: "We are up about 20%. We almost never have groups book the whole studio but we have had at least one full studio group each week for the last month on nights we would otherwise be closed - which is just luck. Nope - after I typed that I realized it’s almost certainly thanks to Hillary Moulliet’s marketing that planted regular little seeds saying to contact us for team building."
